Chateau Saint-Elme Bordeaux Superieur 2009
We
have sold a good bit of the 2005 of this wine, which was also a
spectacular value. The 09 reveals a blackish red hue with noticeable
density, suggesting the ripeness of the vintage. On the nose it is
classic Bordeaux with dark fruit, cocoa, and subtle earth notes that
lead to a plush and mouth-coating wine that still exhibits elegance and
balance. The finish reveals a little more earthy nuance delivered on
light tannins and gentle acidity. The wine that every $10 Merlot wishes
it could be.

Chateau Jouanin Cotes de Castillon 2009
This
wine thuroughly impressed me at a tasting in March, especially because
it delivers the depth and deliciousness of far more expensive
Bordeaux. A glistening dark raspberry color with a blackish center,
just the appearance of this wine seems impressive. The nose is loaded
with beautiful ripe red and black fruits with plenty of floral and
spice notes that add even more complexity to this modestly priced wine.
The mouth is rich and vibrant, with a delectable lushness, which
manifests all the aromas into similarly delicious flavors. Supremely
round and drinkable, the fine ripe tannins make the slightest
appearance on the finish, just to remind you that this is still
Bordeaux.
